Released in October 2004, Kamigawa’s flavor was based on feudal Japan and related legends and mythology. Although the artwork and flavor was some of Magic’s best, the mechanics were very unpopular, and the block became known as a legendary
disappointment.
Wizards of the Coast has said it will likely never return to Kamigawa because the set was so unpopular.
But the set was unpopular due to MECHANICS, not flavor. If Wizards returned to Kamigawa with great mechanics and maintained the cool FLAVOR and ART, then the set could easily be a hit.
