Many Magic: The Gathering players ask the question: Is it worth it to buy From The Vault: Lore?
As always, the answer to this question will be different for different players, based upon their individual needs and goals.
Thus, for this video we will examine worth as it relates to players looking for financial value both of individual cards and as a whole, playability in constructed decks for formats such as Commander, Modern and Legacy, as well as cards for collections. Let’s take a look!
A note before we begin: the focus of this video will be examining the most recent from the vault, from the vault lore, but I will also be looking briefly at the value of previous from the vault series as well, in order to make reasonable assumptions about the current set.

So, when looking to purchase this product, the first question that should be asked is: do you want all the cards from it, or just a select few?
Are you excited for that alternate art foil Momir vig, but don’t really plan to use the other 14 cards in the set? If so, your needs might be best met by just buying the individual card, which in this example is currently only $3.37.
If you are interested in the majority of these cards, how does the individual cost compare to the cost of the From The Vault?
From the Vault has an MSRP of $40.00, but it is highly, highly unlikely you will be able to buy it for that price. Why? Because From The Vault is an exceptionally limited release, with most game stores getting as few as 5-10 boxes.
Currently, looking on both eBay and Amazon, I see the range of prices from From The Vaults to be between 60-80 dollars, US. While some rare stores may sell these for their $40 MSRP, I think it is fair to say that the vast majority of us must accept the price of 60-80 as the cost of this product. Given that range, for the purposes of this video let’s use the value of $70.00 as the average cost.
Is From The Vault Lore worth $70.00?
