Always keep counters and dice on you. You need these to indicate when your creatures gain +1+1 counters, or your planeswalkers change loyalty totals, or even as creature tokens. Don’t be that player who needs to put +1/+1 counters on their creature but has no way to indicate this.

#5 – Use bath beads. Bath beads are cheap, pretty, and usually available at your local 0.99 cent or equivalent store. For about $1.00 you can get all the counters you’ll ever need.
Use counters or dice for upkeep effects. Let’s say I have a Thassa in play…

Never attack without first saying, move to declare attackers. This makes it very clear to your opponent that this is their last chance to cast any pre-combat spells. If you move to declare attacks and they decline to cast any spells or effects, then they can’t make you go back to let them do so after they see what you are attacking with.
